A front splash/stone guard is illustrated here. It is made from aluminum wire, using 18swg for the mesh and 8swg for the beading. The pitch of the mesh is 1/4". Its width tapers gradually, and then the rear part is folded at an angle so that it will fit into the narrow space at the rear of the front wing. These guards rarely lasted long, because they were in contact with steel brackets and steel penny washers.
