A very faded shelf trim cloth is shown above (left-hand end). Its front edge is to the left of the photo, and this covers the wooden cross-member that the rear seat backrest rests against. The photo below shows the underside, revealing the card that the cloth is wrapped around.
The front edge is fixed with tacks onto the front side of the wooden cross-member mentioned above. The rest of this card and cloth is not fixed down, because by lifting it up, you gain access to the petrol-gauge sender unit.
