Front shelf
The right-hand section of the front shelf is illustrated above. The shelf is in two unequal sections to allow clearance for the steering column. They are linked by the varnished edge trim (not shown here) that screws onto the rearward facing edge of the shelf. Apart from the varnished edge trim, the shelf is entirely flock sprayed to match the interior cloth. This shelf is screwed onto the plywood bulkhead after fitting carpeting to the back of the bulkhead. That is, its long fixing screws (woodscrews) pass through the carpeting and the plywood and into the hardwood strip on the other side of the bulkhead. You can also see the steel angle bracket that supports a corner of the shelf.
