Alloy Bulkhead
Front view (above) and rear view (below) of a very early version of the alloy bulkhead. Actually from the 10th Saloon built, chassis number L810. Note the inner layer of alloy sheet around the footwells and the two large slots at the top. The slots might have been for a rear hinged bonnet?
Similar front and rear views of a 1949 alloy bulkhead. The fibre-board insulation is evident in the rear view (the green patches are repairs). The two long rods are for securing the battery on top of this bulkhead.
